Another tourist fatality in Sai Kung; 71-year-old man drowns in Long Ke Wan

Yesterday afternoon (5/8) a 71-year-old man drowned while swimming in Long Ke Wan, Sai Kung. The incident occurred during a Yellow Rainstorm warning from the Observatory. It adds to the growing number of fatal incidents which have occurred in Sai Kung since the unseasonal hot weather arrived.

Fire Services, Marine Police and Government Flying Service rushed to the scene after receiving a report of a drowning around 2:00 pm. It is understood that the victim and his daughter and a group of about 20 people were on a cruise boat. The victim and daughter went into the water and swam with other friends, planning to swim to the beach. The man got into difficulties on the way and he fell into a coma.

The victim was later rescued by helicopter and, accompanied by his daughter, flown to the Eastern District Hospital. When he arrived at the hospital, the medical staff continued to perform extracardiac pressure first aid, but it was confirmed that he was dead.
