30-year-old man dies after going missing on Tsam Chuk Wan cruise

Yet another fatal drowning accident in Sai Kung waters occurred at about 11:30 am yesterday (1/9), when a 30-year-old man and a group of about 20 people went to Sai Kung for a cruise. The yacht went to the vicinity of Tsam Chuk Wan, and the male victim jumped into the sea for a swim, but his friends soon noticed that he had disappeared, and they called the police for help. 

The marine police and fire department were called to the scene, and the Government Flying Service also dispatched a helicopter to search from the air. 

The fire department rescued the victim at about 1:00 pm but he was unconscious. After landing at the Sai Kung Marine Police Base he was taken to Tseung Kwan O Hospital by ambulance for emergency treatment. The man needed an automated external defibrillator on the way to the hospital, but was later confirmed to be dead.
