Early Sunday Morning (18/12), a serious traffic accident occurred in Clear Water Bay, Sai Kung. A car, speeding along Tai Au Mun Road towards Kowloon, ran out of control, crossed the lane divider and crashed into a lamppost on the opposite side of the road. The male driver and female passenger were trapped in the car; passing vehicles called the police for help.
Owing to the serious damage to the car involved in the accident, firefighters used heavy tools to cut off the roof of the private car and rescued the two people. At that time, the 27-year-old female passenger had suffered multiple injuries all over her body and was unconscious. The injured woman to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for emergency treatment, where she was certified dead at 4:55 am.
The 27-year-old male driver suffered injuries to his hands and feet and was conscious and sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment. He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently being detained for investigation. The special investigation team of the Traffic Department of Kowloon East Region is following up the case.
