Smoke billows from apartment above SPCA animal adoption centre; centre of Sai Kung filled with fire appliances

Sai Kung was brought to a standstill around 1:45 pm this afternoon (22/7) when fire appliances filled up Man Nin Street. Thick smoke came out of a unit on the third floor of a building above the SPCA’s Animal Adoption Centre.

Fire Services Department personnel were called to the scene and the fire was extinguished in about 25 minutes. No one was injured.

During the fire, more than 10 people evacuated to a safe location on their own. The animals in the SPCA Centre were all unharmed. The fire department is investigating the cause of the fire
