Paraglider dies while flying off Long Ke Wan

Yesterday afternoon (15/2) a 62-year-old man lost his life in a paragliding accident near Long Ke Wan, Sai Kung.

It is understood that the deceased, surnamed To, was engaged in yacht trading and had one to two years of experience in paragliding. A group of four people, including their coach, set off from Tuk Ngu Shan in Sai Kung for Long Ke in the morning. Police said the man was paragliding when the incident occurred, when he lost control and fell into the sea.

He had drowned when a Government Flying Services helicopter picked him out of the waters and airlifted him to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in Chai Wan where he was certified dead at 2.57pm.

The cause of death is yet to be determined after an autopsy. The cause of the incident is being investigated.
