British man dies whilst hiking to Ham Tin

The MacLehose Trail, Section 2, near Tai Long, Sai Kung

At about 9:00 am today (29/4), a 56-year-old British man and his friends went to Pak Tam Au, Sai Kung for an outing to Ham Tin. They walked for about 2 hours, and were near the junction of Tai Long Au and Lam Uk Wai, Section 2, MacLehose Trail, when the Briton suddenly fell dizzy and fell to the ground.

Seeing this, his friend called the emergency services for help at 11:20 am. A Government Flying Service helicopter was dispatched and rescued the victim and sent him to the Eastern District Hospital for emergency treatment.

During the period, the man vomited blood and needed equipment for emergency cardiopulmonary compression. The victim was finally confirmed dead, and the cause of the incident remains to be determined at an autopsy.
