Yesterday morning (12/8) a 27-year-old man was arrested for crashing into two road signs on Clear Water Bay Road just before 6:00 am. He then fled the scene and did not report the accident. When apprehended by the police at 10:30 am in Kowloon City he was charged with careless driving, failure to stop after traffic accident and failure to report after traffic accident.
After his arrest he failed an alcohol breath test and was suspected of drunk driving. The arrested driver, a Pakistani national with Hong Kong ID card, has been released on bail pending further investigation and must report to the police in mid-August.
The case was handed over to the Regional Traffic Accident Investigation Team of Kowloon East for follow-up.
