Catherine’s Puppies homes 1500 dogs, but has 70 waiting in shelters for a kind heart like you

More than 1500 dogs have now been found homes by Catherine’s Puppies, Ms Lumsden reports. Hundreds of furry friends have enjoyed happy lives with a new family and home.

Catherine’s Puppies has two shelters at Tai Mong Tsai and in the hills above Ho Chung. Here about 70 dogs reside, Catherine said. The charity owes about $50,000 for veterinary bills and with no support from the Government, is reliant on donations. “If 1000 people paid $50 a month, I’d never have to ask for donations, except if we have a big surgery or virus like parvo, which is extremely costly at the vet,” Catherine said.

Catherine was voted Sai Kung Person of the Year for her exemplary animal welfare work.

The charity also needs volunteers, to give the dogs walks and outings and to generally help out at the shelters.

Catherine says to people wanting a dog “adopt, don’t shop”. You can go to one of her shelters any day then experience the joy of transforming a dog’s life.
