Wild boar hit and killed on Clear Water Bay Road, Sai Kung: A fire engine helping at the scene was rear-ended by a truck – five firefighters injured

This morning (11/10) around 11.20 am, a Tesla car was being driven driving along Clear Water Bay Road, Sai Kung in the direction of Kowloon. When it approached the area opposite the Esso petrol station, it is suspected that a 1 metre long wild boar rushed onto the road. The Tesla driver was unable to brake in time, hitting the boar. The male driver and female passenger of the private car were not injured and called the police for help.

A fire engine, in the close vicinity, arrived at the scene. However, a truck that was following it could not brake in time and crashed into the rear of the fire engine. Five firefighters on board were slightly injured and taken to hospital.

The truck driver reported dizziness and was sent to the hospital for examination. The wild boar that was hit was bleeding profusely and was confirmed to have died on the spot after examination. The police are investigating the cause of the accident and summoned the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department to collect the wild boar carcass.

The Transport Department announced that due the incident, part of Clear Water Bay Road towards Kowloon near On Sau Road was closed. Heavy traffic congestion followed.
