13 suspicious packages found near Stegosaurus Rock, Sai Kung, revealing HK$15 million worth of cocaine

There have been many recent reports of drug dealers trying to ship goods by sea, with some of the drugs drifting ashore. For the fourth time this month, packages or plastic barrels containing drugs were seized on beaches around Hong Kong. On Sunday (21/4) at 2:25 pm, a hiker in Sai Kung reported that 13 packages containing suspicious white powder were found on the rocky beach near Stegosaurus Rock, Nam She Wan, Sai Kung.

After receiving reports and conducting investigations, officers arrived at the scene and concluded that the packages contained a total of approximately 15 kilograms of suspected cocaine, with a total market value of approximately HK$15 million.

On Saturday (20/4), a package containing suspected cocaine powder was found at Pui O Beach, Chi Ma Wan, Lantau Island. It weighs about 1,000 gms and has a market value of about HK$1.1 million. On 9 April, a green plastic barrel was found about 10 metres offshore from Lido Bay Beach in Tsuen Wan, containing eight packages of suspected cocaine powder, weighing about 8 kgs and with a market value of about HK$8 million.

On 4 April, 19 kgs of cocaine packages with a market value of about HK$19 million were seized at Chung Hom Kok Beach in Stanley. Officers have not ruled out that drug traffickers tied the cocaine package to a buoy and threw it into the sea, and then sent its location to the contact to receive the drugs.
