Animal traps have recently appeared in Clear Water Bay Country Park. Two dogs were unfortunately caught in the traps within the last two weeks. A female dog’s right front paw was wounded down to the bones – volunteers are trying to look after her. A couple of days ago a black dog was also caught by its right front paw. Fortunately, the injury was not serious and no amputation was required. A group of volunteers conducted a search of the area with metal detectors, but have found nothing so far. Dog-walkers entering Clear Water Bay Country Park are urged to be more careful to protect their dogs and themselves, and to call the police immediately if any animal traps are found.

The brown female dog had only bones left on her right front paw
The brown female dog was injured two weeks ago and only bones were left on her right front paw. However, volunteers have not been able to rescue her and for the time being, they can only feed her antibiotics and medicines. In addition, a docile black dog also injured its right front leg. Fortunately, the injury was not too serious and after diagnosis and treatment by a veterinarian, amputation was not required.

Volunteers conducted a search with metal detectors
Volunteers from the area arrived at the scene recently and conducted a search with metal detectors, but no animal traps have been found so far. The volunteers described the current situation in Clear Water Bay Country Park as extremely dangerous, with the safety of many wild animals, domesticated animals and even humans threatened. “Many people let their dogs loose in this area, and let them run free without leashes. Animal traps pose a great potential danger to both humans and dogs” one said. The volunteers have also informed the chairman of the rural committee and are preparing to report to the police.
