Rural By-election to be held on Sunday; three candidates standing in Ho Chung, Sai Kung

The Home Affairs Department appeals to registered electors of the Ha Ling Pei and Ho Chung Indigenous Inhabitant Representative Elections, and to registered electors of the Tung Chun Wai Resident Representative Election to exercise their right to vote in the Rural By-election to be held this Sunday 27 April.

Eleven Rural Representative vacancies are open in the by-election and 13 valid nominations were received during the nomination period. There are two candidates running for an Indigenous Inhabitant Representative post of Ha Ling Pei of the Tung Chung Rural Committee and three candidates for an Indigenous Inhabitant Representative post of Ho Chung of the Sai Kung Rural Committee; and two candidates running for a Resident Representative post of Tung Chun Wai of the San Tin Rural Committee. Polling will be held for these three vacancies.

The other six candidates were returned uncontested to be the Indigenous Inhabitant Representatives of Kap Tong, Ping Tun, and Kwun Yam Shan and Kong Pui; and the Resident Representatives of Tai Po Tau, Wai Tau Tsuen and Kwong Shan Tsuen.

No valid nominations were received for the Resident Representative vacancies of Wu Shek Kok and Kam Shan Village.

Polling will be held from 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm. Electors are required to bring along the original of their identity documents or other specific alternative documents to the designated polling station as specified in the polling notice.
