HKUST plans to expand four teaching buildings at Clearwater Bay

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, in a report to Sai Kung District Council, says that it plans to expand four laboratories and teaching buildings.

The University said that with the increase in the number of students and faculty, the school plans to expand the existing campus to accommodate additional teaching and research facilities and improve the university environment. HKUST plans to build four laboratories and teaching buildings in the southwest of the Clearwater Bay campus, near the HKUST South Gate bus stop.

HKUST said the four buildings cover an area of ​​about 2.1 hectares, of which 1.2 hectares are private land donated by the Shaw Foundation and the remaining 0.9 hectares are government land. Each building will have eight floors. HKUST said the buildings will mainly be used as laboratories and teaching facilities, and will also have offices, learning and exchange spaces, and catering facilities. HKUST expects that the relevant project can start construction as early as 2027.
