French national falls into coma while hiking in Sai Kung Country Park with his son; dies later in hospital

A French national and his son were hiking in Sai Kung when the father, who was 69, suddenly collapsed. The incident occurred at 4:44 pm yesterday (6/10). Police received a report from a man who said he and his father were hiking up the hill from Pak Tam Chung and along the Sheung Yiu Country Trail. When they reached Hei Tsz Wan, his father suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, and a GFS helicopter was also called in to assist. The victim was flown to Eastern Hospital for emergency treatment, but, sadly, later died.

Police stated that the cause of death is pending an autopsy, and the case is being classified as “death on arrival at the hospital.”
