Referee stops fight, awarding TKO against Sai Kung’s Brindy Mason

Sai Kung’s fighting heroine Brindy Mason has lost a fight — the referee stopped it in the second round. Here Brindy tells SAI KUNG BUZZ exclusively what happened:

“On Saturday I fought in JCK* fight night 111 and my match is going viral (on Chinese TikTok called DauYin) for being one of the best matches China has ever seen.

“I didn’t win in the first round. I gave it my absolute all, almost knocking my opponent out with ground and pound strikes, which resulted in her broken orbital bone, broken nose, and also armbar submission which my opponent refused to tap to cause a fracture in her arm! I gassed out in the second round after giving it my all in the first, which was where the referee called it just from pure exhaustion.

The whole fight can be seen on YouTube (First 3 minutes)

“My opponent was a Chinese Sanda fighter named Sun Qiu Yuan. (She) might not be the most skilled, but definitely one of the biggest hearts I’ve seen in my whole career.”

Asked by BUZZ where she plans to go from here, Brindy said, “(I’m) hoping to stick with this Chinese league for the next few years, build my record up, and get the US (mixed martial arts authorities) to notice me, not the other way round.”

Brindy on her opponent after the fight. “Definitely one of the biggest hearts I’ve seen.”

Buzz closed by telling Brindy her HK friends and fans are all solidly behind her.
