The Tikitiki Bowling Bar will host the second Sai Kung Buzz Concert for the Animals on 30 November, it has been agreed. Arndt Borchert, Group General Manager at the Tikitiki, said the spectacular bowling alley-nightclub will be turned over to animal lovers for the benefit concert from 5:00 to 11:00 pm on the Friday. Arndt said all Tikitiki directors and management are animal lovers so 60 per cent of money raised from ticket sales will go to five charities: Sai Kung Stray Friends Foundation, Hong Kong Cats, Catherine’s Puppies, HomeDogHome and Sai Kung Lost Injured Animals. The bowling lanes will be free for ticket holders to use on the night, subject to availability.

The first Concert for the Animals, initiated and lead-organised by Sai Kung Buzz newspaper, was held last year at Momentai. The seafront restaurant declined to host the Concert this year because of post-typhoon and other difficulties.

Arndt said the Tikitiki’s staff “will lay on a full entertainment programme. The staff will dress as cats and dogs. We will do a limited version of the CATS musical show.” Musicians and other entertainers from Sai Kung and downtown will be welcome at the Bowling Bar on November 30. “This is not a Tikitiki event, this is a community event.” An array of talent is being lined up to entertain the whole family. From 5:00 to 7:00 pm it will be “Kidzone”: robots owned by the Tikitiki including one from “Lost in Space” will demonstrate their capabilities, student musicians and singers from local schools will perform, so will a juggler, clown and musician from the Tikitiki’s in-house talent. There will be carnival games and workshops for the kids. Downstairs in the Centro lobby child singers will be welcoming arriving guests.

From 7:00 to 11:00 pm, there will be an ever-changing line-up of entertainment for adults: Village Dogs — appropriately named — are expected to appear as they did last year. Also Jimmy2Times, led by Jim Lewis who was MC in 2017, and  it is hoped, Greg Hunt’s Leveling Out. Interspersed will be brief remarks by the heads of the five charities, Irish dancing, a stand-up comedian, the high-stepping girls of the Tikitiki Dancing Troupe, and an auction of donated goods. The musical talent will be topped off late in the evening with a performance by the Zambian-led Frankie Hollywood and the Tiki Birds, the Bowling Bar’s in-house band. Guests will be able to order a la carte from the menus created by Five-star Chef Peter Lim at Beach Bums & Cannibals and The Octopus’s Garden.
