70-year-old hiker found; two still missing. Police continue search in Fa Shan, Sai Kung – updated

Police received a report around 10:00 pm last night (25/5) stating that a group of hikers had apparently become separated near Fa Shan, Sai Kung on their way to East Dam. Around 4:00 am this morning (26/5), rescuers found one of the missing men, a 70-year-old man, near Pak Lap Village. He was unharmed and did not require hospitalisation. The police are currently trying to locate the other two missing men.

It is understood that the missing persons are both between 70 and 80 years old. The group was hiking together through a local hiking organization.

According to reports, at 9:15 am on Monday (25/5), nearly 100 hikers, including the person who reported the incident, started their hike in Pak Lap. At 3:00 am this morning, the rescued wife received a WhatsApp message from her husband saying that he would spend the night in the mountains and would return home in the morning. Subsequently, the fire department and mobile units found him near Pak Lap Village and brought him down the mountain. Rescue workers are currently continuing to search for the two missing persons in the Fa Shan and Pak Lap areas.
