Meat lovers can now find remarkable value at moolameat.com, launched by two Sai Kung entrepreneurs, James Bradshaw and James Trower.

“On average, our products are 40 per cent cheaper than the supermarkets,” says James Bradshaw.

Moola Meat is approaching its first birthday, and business is booming. “Sales are growing by about 50 per cent every month as word spreads,” he adds.

Here is a taste of the bargains on offer:

  • New Zealand 100% grass-fed premium rump cap (picanha) steak, 200g, HK$43 (or 10 steaks for HK$389)
  • New Zealand 100% grass-fed premium fillet steak, 200g, HK$59 (or 10 steaks for HK$539)
  • Brazilian ribeye steak, 250g, HK$39
  • Australian beef mince, 350g, HK$35
  • Whole French chicken, 1.4kg, HK$63
  • Chicken breast, 2kg, HK$43
  • Free-range NZ chicken breast, 400g, HK$57
  • UK mature cheddar, 300g block, HK$49
  • French Brie, 250g, HK$57
  • Extra virgin olive oil, 1 litre, HK$99

“I’ve not had this quality from steaks that cost twice as much or more.” (Moola Meat customer)

So how do they do it? “The vision from the start has been to bring the best quality at the best value,” says James Trower. And the quality, James Bradshaw insists, beats the supermarkets: “Because we specialise, and we check the quality personally.”

“I love that I can order what I want to eat, not just what I can afford to eat.” (Moola Meat customer)

Orders are delivered by SF Express Cold Chain, usually within two days, and often next day for those in Sai Kung. Delivery is free on your first order of HK$200 or more, and on all orders over HK$600 thereafter. Sai Kung locals can also collect for free from Casa in Sai Kung Square, with no minimum order.

The pair are familiar faces locally. James Bradshaw is a serial entrepreneur behind the likes of Casa and Winerack, while James Trower is one of Sai Kung’s well-known pastors and entrepreneurs.

It is still early days, but with growth driven purely by word of mouth, the two Jameses are clearly tapping into something the community wants.
