Two Sai Kung land parcels totalling 750 sq.ft. to be auctioned with forecast price of $380,000

A batch of land in Wong Yi Chau, Sai Kung, with government deeds specifying the use of “toilet” and “buildings”, will be auctioned off tomorrow (16/9) with an opening bid of HK$380,000, a price of about HK$461 per square foot.

Due to its extremely remote location, buyers need to be aware that the site is completely abandoned and surrounded by dense forest, and that clearing and repairing it will require a certain cost.

The land parcels to be auctioned this time encompass No. 11 Wong Yi Chau, Sai Kung; Lot No. 257-247 (measured); and Lot No. 249A and the remaining lots, with a total area of approximately 750 square feet.

A spokesperson for Memfus Wong Auctioneers stated that the land was put up for sale by the owner, who purchased it for HK$400,000 in March of last year and has held it for only about a year and a half. The starting price is HK$20,000 lower than the original purchase price.

According to the land use description in the collective deeds, the and was designated for “buildings” and “toilets” respectively. On-site observation reveals that the land is currently in a state of neglect and neglect. The “buildings” plot contains abandoned stone houses completely surrounded by trees and weeds. The “toilets” plot is a pristine woodland with extremely dense vegetation, the ground covered with dead branches and fallen leaves.

The land is also geographically remote. Wong Yi Chau in Sai Kung is described as “secluded,” and getting in and out requires considerable effort. Generally, visors need to take KMB bus routes 94 or 96R and minibus routes 7 or 9 from Sai Kung town centre and get off at the “Pak Tam Chung” stop.

After getting off the bus, they need to cross Fuk Hing Bridge near the Pak Tam Chung Rehabilitation Park and enter the “Pak Tam Chung Nature Education Trail” area. Walk for about 10 to 15 minutes towards the “Sheung Yiu Folk Museum”. Finally, turn left at a fork in the road and follow the road sign pointing to “Wong Yi Chau” to reach the destination.
