Man injured by 20m falling tree as he was cleaning up storm debris

Yesterday morning (17/9) a 40-year-old man was cleaning up rubbish and debris from the recent storms when he was hit and injured by a falling tree in Sai Kung.

Around 11:00 am, a villager in Tai Wan Tau Village, Clear Water Bay, was cleaning up garbage and debris near the public toilet when a tree about 20 metres high suddenly collapsed nearby. He could not get out of the way in time and his right foot was crushed.

Firefighters and ambulancemen arrived at the scene after receiving the report and worked together to rescue the victim. He was conscious and sent to the hospital by ambulance for treatment. Firefighters later cleared the fallen tree involved.
