Stingrays boys have won the under 12 rugby championship, bringing the Richard Hawkes Cup to Sai Kung for the first time. Fiona Saunders, Minis Chairman, said it was a hard fought game with our lads triumphing over the HK Football Club to win the final by three tries to nil.
The tries were scored by Feike Manting, Tom Walsh and Tomas Ginns. “The boys have had a great season leading all the way through and scored an amazing 25 tries during the course of the day without conceding a single try. This group of boys is a great example of a team who play for one another as a cohesive unit,” Fiona said.
Stingrays girls have also done well. “The under 10 girls have been undefeated for the whole season.”
At the end of season tournament the Stingrays under 12 girls beat the Flying Kukris in the Kim Lam Cup to take home the plate. The same team went on to compete in the Sevens-related women’s competition at the Football Club.
All of the Mini Stingrays teams from under 7s to under 12s boys and girls played games in the run-up events on each day of the Sevens.
