The public will have access to the Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club from 30 October  to 5 November for the PGA Tour Open.  As well as giving golf enthusiasts a chance to watch top players, it is a charity event that raised $1.5 million last year for World Vision.
In 2016, Australian Daniel Nisbet battled American Alex Kang (photo above) to take the 72-hole tournament crown.  Club Chairman Wyman Li said the free spectator access and charity events were part of the club’s community outreach programme.
“We continue to actively promote sports development in the community, particularly junior golf,” said Wyman. “Our affiliation with the PGA TOUR will allow us to conduct a world-class event and continue to make an impact in our community.”
Eligible players include all 2016 PGA TOUR China tournament winners, the top-60 money-winners on the 2016 PGA TOUR China Order of Merit, the top-30 available players from the 2016 China Golf Association Ranking List, 10 open qualifiers and 10 sponsor exemptions. Also, among others, up to 10 current Web.com Tour or PGA TOUR members and the top-three available finishers on the 2017 Mackenzie Tour-PGA TOUR Canada Order of Merit and the 2016 PGA TOUR Latinoamérica Order of Merit will be eligible to play.

The Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club, established in 1982, is an 18-hole course divided into two parts: the Highland Nine and the Ocean Nine.
In October 2015, the club hosted the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, a tournament won by China teenager Jin Cheng. Because of this victory, Jin played in the 2016 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club.
