Shortly after 7:00 pm yesterday, 5 December, police officers found two suspicious speedboats near Tai Miu Wan Pier with people carrying  goods on to the boats. Police officers  intercepted them. One of the speedboats immediately sailed towards the Tin Hau Shrine. Then one of the men jumped onto the shore from the boat to evade the police, while the other speedboat fled towards the Mainland.
During the operation, the seized speedboat, suspected of being used for smuggling purposes, was boarded and a batch of suspected smuggled goods worth about $1.4 million, including tablets, digital cameras, camcorders, old telephones, amber stones and electronic components, were seized. The case will be submitted to the Customs for follow-up.
