It wasn’t just the sewage works in Sai Kung that was severely damaged by super-typhoon Mangkhut last weekend. The temporary base in the road next to the Sai Kung Sewage Treatment Plant, used by Fire Services Department for fire boats and jetskis, was razed to the ground and turned into rubble.

According to the Fire Services Department the temporary base was opened in July 2016. It was used to provide a quick response for its 24-hour fire-fighting and rescue services.

Since the temporary base has been destroyed all activities will now be moved to Marine Police Base, which may have some operational affects. Police also stated that the eastern part of the Marine Police base had some facilities damaged, including some cable fixings, but there is no damage to any vessels.
