Selim and Elif Evduzen have decided they love Sai Kung

The thickset, shaven-headed Turk, Selim Evduzen, who has opened Zeugma Mediterranean food bar near the 1A minibus, says he wishes they had discovered the charms of Sai Kung 10 years ago. A soccer player, Selim is tough looking, but affable and eager to please. With his wife Elif he shifted to Po Tung Road near the Fire Station about a month ago. For years they lived on the island and didn’t like it. Their son Berk moved
to the US to study professional basketball. The Evduzens talked about going to the US to join him. “I was working day and night in Lan Kwai Fong and it was getting me down.”

Then they found Sai Kung. “We’ve been living here only one month and we have decided to stay,” Selim said. “Because of you and other people. We like the environment and the very lovely people.”

Selim is running Zeugma with his wife and two shareholders, Tekin Temir and Mehmet Kolemen, who is often seen serving in the shop. Word of mouth, the best promotion, is building their clientele as people try the tasty, healthy Mediterranean food. They recognise value for money:

Hummus with thin crispy bread $45, chicken doner wrap with yogurt garlic mint tzatziki $65, falafel salad $$65, Halloumi cheese rice plate $65 and Greek yogurt with cherry jam or honey yogurt $30.
