
Police conducted an anti-drug operation in Sai Kung on Wednesday (13/5) and found someone carrying several red, white, and blue plastic bags onto the road near Tai Mong Tsai Beach. Officers immediately intercepted and searched the area, seizing 25 nylon bags containing 764 packets of marijuana, weighing approximately 511.5 kilograms in total, with an estimated market value of approximately HK$98.7 million. Three men were arrested on the spot.
Police have stated that this case represents the largest marijuana trafficking case recorded by the police force since 2023. It is understood that the arrested men are Pakistani and Indian nationals, and they were key members of the drug trafficking syndicate; they resisted arrest. The members were primarily responsible for receiving and distributing drugs; one even acted as a recruiter and used boats to transport the drugs to landing points.

During the operation, officers successfully seized 25 nylon bags containing 764 packets of marijuana, weighing approximately 511.5 kilograms and estimated to be worth about NT$98.7 million Photos HKPF.
The arrested men were between 25 and 34 years old, one of whom held a Hong Kong identity card, while the other two held “Recognisance Forms” and all claimed to be unemployed.

The three arrested men are currently being detained for investigation. Police will charge them with “trafficking in dangerous drugs,” and the case will be heard at the Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Courts today (15/5). The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are possible.
Acting Senior Superintendent Leung Ho-ming of the Narcotics Bureau stated that investigations suggest the drugs were originally intended for distribution to the local drug market. Police have noticed that the drug trafficking syndicate is attempting to use some remote coastal areas of Hong Kong, such as sparsely populated beaches, as drug landing points and to carry out drug activities in the early morning, in an attempt to increase the difficulty of law enforcement by the police.
