69-year-old man drowns at Wan Tsai West campsite

Yesterday afternoon (24 February), around 5:00 pm, some campers at Wan Tsai West Camp Site saw a body floating upside down in the water. They alerted emergency services, and he was pulled from the sea. The man was flown by Government Flying Service helicopter to Wong Shek Pier, and then taken by ambulance to Eastern Hospital while in a coma.

Sadly, the 69-year-old man was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. The police have classified the case as having no suspicious circumstances, and are awaiting for the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
