A 40-year-old woman has been arrested in a Sai Kung village for possession of firecrackers. Senior Inspector Jackie Chan said she had 27 packs of the firecrackers. The woman admitted possessing the explosives for Chinese new year celebrations. She has been charged and is out on $1000 bail.

“It is against the law to discharge or possess firecrackers,” Jackie said, “and a threat to neighbourhood security.” Firecrackers are classified as dangerous goods under the Dangerous Goods Ordinance.
