Police crackdown; If you park for more than 24 hours you may be fined $2000

People who leave vehicles illegally parked for long periods, often for sale, risk fines of $2000, according to the Sai Kung divisional commander. Senior Inspector Jacky Chan said, “We are fed up with this kind of selfish act and the parking shall belong to all drivers.”

Jacky said parking continuously for more than 24 hours is an offence under Chapter 374C Regulation 8. Action has been taken against the owners of 150 vehicles locally in the past few months. The police are considering other action such as turning all such parking spaces into metered ones.
