Last night around 10:00 pm a yacht carrying 37 passengers lost control as it was leaving Sai Kung Public Pier. It rammed into the pier near the lighthouse and then grounded on the breakwater nearby. The hull was badly damaged.
The 19 men and 18 women on board were instructed by the captain to put on life jackets as he thought it would sink. All were rescued by nearby vessels and transferred back to the pier. Fortunately no one was injured.
Marine Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
