The new location in Hoi Pong Street
Nikolai Smirnov has told BUZZ that his bar/restaurant Momentai, originally located on the waterfront by the Pier, will reopen in April as a smaller venue in a new location.
Momentai, one of the most popular venues in Sai Kung, was forced to close in August last year when the Government refused to renew its lease. The new venue, according to Smirnov, will be “smaller, leaner and meaner, but remaining an al fresco, waterfront bar and resto”. The new restaurant will be in the premises recently vacated by Mike’s Chicken in Hoi Pong street (or Sai Kung “Seafood Street”).

Smirnov adds “We are very much looking forward to being back in Sai Kung to provide the now seemingly iconic Momentai experience of waterfront session drinking! The new spot is much smaller but still al fresco and waterfront, which will keep the spirit of the original much the same.

“The smaller size, lower rent and fewer staff will make it much easier for us to maintain high service & quality standards throughout changing seasons, waves of COVID and rainy days which were just some of the challenges we faced in the original location as an independent restaurant. We’re excited to come back having learned a ton of new things with our new venue in Mong Kok”.
Graceland, Mong Kok
Whilst exiled from Sai Kung, Smirnov and his partners opened Graceland in Mong Kok, a restaurant and bar with a Memphis, Tennessee, theme.
