Traffic arrangements for Sha Tin protest march on 14 July

Updating our story on the upcoming protest marches, we publish the latest traffic arrangements for the planned march to be held on 14 July 2019.

(A) Road Closure (Please refer to the attached plan)

The following roads will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic from about 1:00 pm onward until the crowd is dispersed and the road closure is lifted:

i. The section of Che Kung Miu Road eastbound between Chiu Tin Street and Lion Rock Tunnel Road;
ii. The slip road connecting Che Kung Miu Road eastbound and The Riverpark;
iii. The section of Lion Rock Tunnel Road northbound between Che Kung Miu Road and Sha Tin Centre Street;
iv. The section of Tai Po Road – Tai Wai eastbound between Chung Ling Road and Sha Tin Centre Street (except heading for Chung Ling Road);
v. The slip road of Tai Po Road – Sha Tin southbound leading from Sha Tin Rural Committee Road northbound;
vi. Man Lam Road;
vii. Man Lai Road;
viii. Sha Tin Centre eastbound;
ix. Wang Pok Street;
x. The section of Yuen Wo Road eastbound between Wang Pok Street and Sha Tin Rural Committee Road;
xi. The section of Sha Tin Rural Committee Road northbound between Yuen Wo Road and Pai Tau Street;
xii. The slip road of Tai Po Road – Sha Tin northbound leading to Sha Tin Rural Committee Road northbound；
xiii. Sha Tin Station Circuit;
xiv. Pai Tau Street; and
xv. Sheung Wo Che Road.

Traffic Diversion

The following traffic diversion will be implemented from about 1.00 pm onward until the crowd is dispersed and the road closure is lifted:

i. Traffic along Sha Tin Tau Road northbound will be prohibited from turning right onto Che Kung Miu Road eastbound and straight-on movement onto the slip road leading to The Riverpark;

ii. Traffic along Che Kung Miu Road westbound will be prohibited from turning right onto the slip road leading to The Riverpark;

iii. Traffic along Lion Rock Tunnel Road northbound will be prohibited from entering the road sections of the north of Tai Chung Kiu Road. Vehicles must turn left onto Che Kung Miu Road westbound or turn right onto Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound;

iv. Traffic along Shing Chuen Road will be prohibited from turning right onto Tai Po Road – Tai Wai eastbound (except heading for Chung Ling Road);

v. Traffic along Chung Ling Road will be prohibited from turning left onto Tai Po Road – Tai Wai eastbound;

vi. Traffic along Pak Hok Ting Street will be prohibited from turning right onto Sha Tin Centre Street northbound;

vii. Traffic along Tam Kon Po Street will be prohibited from turning right onto Sha Tin Centre Street;

viii. Traffic along Tai Chung Kiu Road westbound will be prohibited from turning right onto Lion Rock Tunnel Road northbound;

ix. Traffic along Sha Tin Centre Street westbound must turn left onto Lion Rock Tunnel Road southbound;

x. Traffic along the slip road of Tai Po Road – Sha Tin southbound leading to Sha Tin Rural Committee Road must turn left onto Sha Tin Rural Committee Road southbound;

xi. Traffic along Yuen Wo Road westbound will be prohibited from turning right onto Sha Tin Rural Committee Road northbound;

xii. Traffic along Sha Tin Rural Committee Road northbound must turn left onto Yuen Wo Road westbound or turn right onto Yuen Wo Road eastbound;

xiii. Vehicle on Hung Mui Kuk Road northbound heading for Che Kung Miu Road eastbound will be diverted via Lion Rock Tunnel Road northbound, and turn left onto Che Kung Miu Road westbound;

xiv. Vehicle on Mei Tin Road southbound heading for Che Kung Miu Road eastbound will be diverted via Hung Mui Kuk Road southbound, Lion Rock Tunnel Road northbound and turn left onto Che Kung Miu Road westbound; and

xv. Vehicles heading for Sha Tin Town Hall, New Town Plaza (Sha Tin Centre Street westbound), Pak Hok Ting Street and Yi Ching Lane will be diverted Yuen Wo Road westbound.

Bus Services

i. Suspension of Bus Termini and Bus Stop

(a) Sha Tin Central Bus Terminus and Sha Tin Station Public Transport Interchange will be temporarily suspended from 1:00 pm until the crowd is dispersed and the road closure is lifted; and

(b) All bus stops in the affected roads will be suspended during the period of road closure until the crowd is dispersed and the road closure is lifted.

ii. Bus Route Diversion

The following bus routes will be temporarily diverted from 12:00 noon during the period of road closure until the crowd is dispersed and the road closure is lifted:

Green Minibus Services

i. Suspension of Green Minibus Termini

(a)The Green Minibus Termini at Sha Tin Station Public Transport Interchange and Pai Tau Street will be temporarily suspended from 1:00 pm until the crowd is dispersed and the road closure is lifted; and

(b)All public light stands in the affected areas will be suspended during the period of road closure until the crowd is dispersed and the road closure is lifted.

ii.Green Minibus Diversion

The following GMB routes will be temporarily diverted from 12:00 noon during the period of road closure until the crowd is dispersed and the road closure is lifted:

28K, 28S, 60K, 62K, 810, 65A, 66K, 67K, 69K, 403,403A,403P,481A, 809K, 812, 814

iii.Suspension of Green Minibus Services

GMB Route No. 27, 27A, 67A, 68K
