A 30-year-old man disappeared whilst taking part in water sports at one of the youth sports camps along the Tsam Chuk Wan peninsular this morning.
He was reported missing around 11:00 am, last being seen about 150 m off shore. The centre staff searched, but after 15 minutes called emergency services.
Police dispatched a police launch and a fire-boat to the area to carry out a search and rescue. The Government Flying Service also sent a helicopter to the scene to assist, but, currently, there has been no confirmed sighting of the victim.
UPDATE: At about 1:00 pm, the rescuers found the victim and took him to the Marine Police Base. The ambulance then transported him to Tseung Kwan O Hospital. The victim was in a coma when he was admitted to the hospital, but was declared dead soon after.
