Lorry tips over and crushes green taxi in Ko Tong; seven injured

A serious accident occurred in Ko Tong Village, Sai Kung last night. A lorry toppled over and crushed a passing green taxi.

Around  9:00 pm, a taxi collided with a lorry at the junction of Pak Tam Road and Hoi Ha Road. The lorry was reported to have been out of control as it rounded a bend in the road and rolled over on top the taxi. The taxi driver was trapped. Police officers, ambulancemen and firemen arrived and rescued the stunned taxi driver, who was in a coma, and took him to the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin for treatment. The lorry driver was also sent to the hospital with minor injuries.

The taxi passenger and four truck passengers were also injured. The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
