Lifestyles of the rich and famous will be on show next month during the International Cruise and Yachting Festival 2019. Mega-cruisers, super-yachts, luxury cars and other toys for the wealthy will be displayed at the Kai Tak cruise terminal, Kwun Tong’s Vessel 01 and Kai Tak waterfront.
The event from 17 – 24 November is organised by the Hong Kong Cruise and Yacht Industry Association, which says it is non-profit, along with other maritime services and operators. The association claims it aims to develop maritime, education, employment, tourism and industry in the Greater Bay. Only the deep pocketed need apply, because most events are labelled “By Invitation Only” on the festival’s uninformative website.
The industry association says it is developing a super-yacht management services centre at Tsing Yi. Located at the Yiu Lian and Euroasia dockyards, the facility will provide refitting and maintenance for 35m-plus super-yachts and is expected to start operating next year. Italy’s RINA is reported to be assisting in the centre’s development. The site is home to one of Hong Kong’s first super-yachts, David Lieu’s 65m Van Triumph.
