British Airways raise cargo prices by 900% – a blow to pet relocations

pet relocationCatherine Lumsden has been in touch with BUZZ to ask us to alert anyone thinking of taking their pet back to UK soon that British Airways have increased their cargo rates by 900% starting from today. This has raised the price of some relocations from $20,000 to $100,000 per animal.

She says this will be a devastating blow for anyone planning to relocate their dog or cat this summer. She sadly anticipates more animals will be left behind, not by choice but because people are already struggling, many aren’t relocating by choice but due to circumstance.

Catherine says, “At our shelter we really can’t take in any more dogs, BUT if you’ve adopted from us and plan to relocate/take your dog overseas, I’m happy to reach out for foster homes to help until prices come down. I dread the messages coming in from people in pieces over this latest setback, no guarantees but will try and help where can”.

The news has also stirred up a lot of indignation on social media – again check out the Facebook pages of Catherine’s Puppies or Relopaws.
