Narelle Pamuk, of Sai Kung Stray Friends Foundation, recently told BUZZ that it’s always tough but it has been even tougher during these times in 2020, protests preventing us from our fundraising sales on the streets, and now the Covid virus, which has brought all fundraising events to a halt”.
Now she has let us know of an extremely successful fundraising campaign “Help our Stray Friends” driven by a SKSFF supporter Ansh Sahay. He has delivered a much needed life line which ended Wednesday 12 August, 2020 raising an extraordinary total of HK$317,600 in 30 days!!
As a young boy of 14 years Ansh Sahay first visited the shelter in 2016 on a Kellett school group visit and at the time SKSFF was seriously battling to stay operational. Ansh felt compelled to help and discussed with his parents then how SKSFF needed more than a bake sale for survival and that he had a social media platform idea.
He started up a campaign which raised $200,000 and a further $200,000 was pledged by a donor who was impressed by a young boy’s initiative to help the struggling Charity.
According to Narelle, “The recent support to our 2020 campaign has been so heart-warming, it shows the work that I and my small team at SKSFF do, is truly appreciated by the people of Hong Kong and we are so grateful to Ansh Sahay for his dedication to our stray friends.
“Many stray dogs on the street who are under our care and monitoring will continue to be well cared for by SKSFF. Helping Dogs to have a Better Life is what we do!!
“I am proud of our work and although it can be very stressful, frustrating and emotional it is just so gratifying to know we have made a huge improvement to the lives of so many dogs. A happy wagging tail and a lick is a beautiful. Thank you!
“Every dog is special…”
