Suspected bomb found at Shelter Island; police advise against any visits by the public

This morning (17/10) some hikers brought metal detectors to Shelter Island 牛尾洲, Sai Kung. They came across a suspected bomb and notified the police.

It is reported that the bomb is in a stable state and there is no immediate risk of explosion. Staff from the Explosives Ordnance Disposal Section will land on the island in the next few days to deal with it. However, all public transportation to the island has been suspended, and only chartered boats are allowed to visit. 

The police are advising the public not to go to Shelter Island by boat from Sai Kung Pier until the bomb has been disposed of.
