Three men arrested in Tseung Kwan O Village for at least 10 burglaries in multiple districts including Sai Kung

Police arrested three men in Tseung Kwan O village last week on suspicion of being connected with at least 10 burglaries in multiple districts, involving a total value of about HK$1.51 million.

According to media reports, police arrested two 25-year-old local men and a 35-year-old mainland man in Tseung Kwan O Village on 19 October on suspicion of possessing stolen tools and burglary. The mainlander assaulted a police officer and was arrested for assault as well as illegal immigration. The police officer sustained injuries to his hands and feet and was sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment.

From the private car of one of the arrestees the police seized screwdrivers, spanners and other tools. It is believed that the men were responsible for burglaries in Tai Po, Tuen Mun, Tsuen Wan, Sha Tin, Western District and Sai Kung.

He pointed out that the criminals’ tactics were aimed at low security detached houses. The culprits started work between afternoon and dusk. When they deduced that there was no-one at home, they climbed the drain pipe or used a rope to enter the house.
