Runaway truck on Hiram’s Highway hits van parked at bus stop

Early this morning (14/11) a delivery truck ran out of control on Hiram’s Highway near Man Sau Sun Tsuen while being driven towards Sai Kung. The truck hit a seven seater van parked at a bus stop. The van was pushed towards to adjacent frozen food shop where it came to rest after demolishing some of the road side iron posts.

The out-of-control truck continued to move forward about another 10 metres demolishing some more of the roadside pillars and crashed into the fence outside an employment agency.

It is reported that the 40-year-old driver, who lives in Sai Kung was driving home after just finishing work. He is said to have “dozed off” while driving. Police are investigating the incident, in which no-one was injured.
