A cyclist had a close escape when cycling along Tai Au Mun Road in Clear Water Bay Thursday (12/11) afternoon. Online media clips show a cyclist descending northbound along Tai Au Mun Road near the entrance to the High Junk Peak Mountain Bike Trail. A white car suddenly crosses into the opposite lane. The cyclist turns to the left to dodge it and brakes suddenly. The cyclist somersaults in the air to avoid a collision.
The 40-year-old female driver of the car got out of the car to check the situation. Onlookers also stepped forward to help.
The police classified the case as a traffic accident with one person slightly injured; no-one has been arrested. Some netizens who watched the clip denounced the driver of the private car for recklessness. There was a parking spot on the northbound line to allow the vehicle to stop. They questioned that the driver would cross the line without checking the traffic.
