A 47-year-old man was arrested in Sai Kung today after police stopped him for erratic driving. He was found to be under the influence of drugs.

At about 1:00 pm this afternoon (10/3), a Tesla car was driving along Tai Mong Tsai Road in Sai Kung towards the town centre. The vehicle was being driven erratically, swaying from left to right. Traffic police, who were patrolling at the time became suspicious and stopped the car near Yan Yee Road for investigation.

The police officer asked the driver take a “rapid oral fluid test” to detect any narcotics. When this proved positive they searched the car and found dozens of pills, a batch of tobacco, possibly containing marijuana; some “white powder” was also found on his body.

The police officers then put a cordon around the vehicle, and called for drug detection dogs to search the vehicle, and found a small amount of suspected marijuana in the vehicle.

After preliminary investigation, the police arrested the male driver on suspicion of possession of drugs, and driving whilst under the influence of drugs. He was sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for examination.

The police will investigate further after tests have been carried out on the drugs found in the car.
