Police launched a land and air search around Pik Uk Village and Hung Uk Village along Clear Water Bay Road in Sai Kung, after two burglaries occurred in the early morning Tuesday (26/10) and Thursday (28/10), with a total loss of approximately HK$4,500 in cash. The Tseung Kwan O Police District, together with the Kowloon East Region Tactical Force and the Government Flying Service, conducted a high-profile search in the vicinity of Clear Water Bay Road at about 7:00 pm on 29 October, and will continue for seven days.

Apart from searching the mountains with police dogs, the police also set up roadblocks to intercept passing vehicles. When in the process of intercepting a van, they found a man in the vehicle who was wanted for not paying a traffic fine He was arrested.

The district task force Inspector said that he believed that the culprit in the burglary case was a Chinese man who had been committing crimes in the district for six months. The suspect was about 1.7 to 1.8 metres tall, of medium build, and wearing a black long-sleeved jacket and long black trousers, black face mask and white gloves.

He is suspected of being an illegal immigrant. More than 100 people were mobilised in this operation. Tactical units also set up roadblocks at various locations in the police area to search for vehicles to catch illegal immigrants.
