Police catch suspected serial burglar during manhunt; another escapes

The Tseung Kwan O Police District, together with the Kowloon East Region Tactical Force and the Government Flying Service, have been carrying out an intensive search for serial burglary suspects in Clear Water Bay area since 29 October. On Tuesday (2/11) around 4:00 pm they arrested one suspect, with another running away.

The officers then launched another search operation. Large number of police officers were seen patrolling the areas of Shueng Yang Village and Ha Yeung Village. Police dogs and a GFS helicopter were also sent to assist in the search. Police were heard loud-hailing a message in Cantonese and Mandarin: “You have been surrounded by the police.” 

Villages around Tseung Kwan O were searched by police units

Police search operations continued yesterday and today (4/11), and roadblocks were erected on Clear Water Bay Road to intercept vehicles; police officers also stood guard at Sheung Yang Village and police vehicles patrolled back and forth from time to time.

The suspected burglarr was about 40 years old, about 1.7 metres tall, and of medium build. He was wearing a baseball hat, blue checked shirt, dark trousers, and holding a two-foot long knife at the time of the incident. During the operation, police officers found several items nearby, suspected to be stolen goods from a recent burglary in Tseung Kwan O. Police urge members of the public to contact Tseung Kwan O Police District Task Force on 6277 4500 if they see the suspicious man.
