Yesterday afternoon (1/10) police received a report that a kayak had overturned in the waters off Tiu Chung Chau, Sai Kung and two women had fallen into the sea. The sea was rough at the time and it is suspected that the boat capsized owing to the wind and waves.
Rescuers arrived at the scene and a Government Flying Service helicopter was called in to assist. The two victims were rescued, with one in a coma. Fortunately, she regained consciousness and was sent to the Eastern Hospital by helicopter for treatment. The other victim was taken by a rescue vessel to the Marine Police Base opposite the Marine East Division.
