Now that social distancing rules are relaxing it’s time to get out and listen to some live music. BUZZ will post the occasional story on upcoming live music events:
After 120 Shazza Music Showcases, leading independent Hong Kong music promoter The Underground is moving the live event to the popular Peel Fresco venue.
Shazza Music Showcases were started in July 2009 by The Underground to provide an outlet for new bands who typically struggle for opportunities to perform live. The Underground supports and advises all participating bands on how to keep moving forward with their music career.
Bands who played their first show at Shazza Music Showcases include now prominent acts such as Nowhere Boys and ShumKing Mansion.
The Wanch sadly closed its doors in August 2020 and it is hoped the venue will reopen post-Covid.
Peel Fresco opened in 2007 and has been a prime music spot in Hong Kong, open seven days a week.
This 121st Shazza Music Showcase edition promises a fresh crop of new bands eager to impress, playing everything from pop to rap-rock.
ROYAL SUNAR

OPSHOP TYRANTS
Topshop Tyrants plays an eclectic mix of heart pumping modern rock covers alongside elegant and dynamic originals. born in 2018, they have endured and battled the pandemic and have come through with a newfound passion and desire to change the world and add vibrancy to an already diverse and brilliant local music scene. influences include Mumford and Sons, Biffy Clyro, Slipknot, IDLES, Taylor Swift, Foo Fighters and Backstreet Boys.
MUSČAT
Imagine you found a new band with great originals. It’s a treat, right? Welcome to Musčat. The ‘muscateers’ are journeymen playing a bunch of fun upbeat pop rock songs for bars, cars, Odeons and Apollos. Muscat takes you to where the music is, and always was, obvious.”

RADIO RESURGENCE
Radio Resurgence is a rock band formed in Hong Kong in 2021. The band’s line up consists of Simon Lee (lead guitar, vocals), Saju Limbu (bass guitar), Erik Best (drums) and Saurab Gurung (rhythm guitar, vocals). In July 2021 looking to start a serious band, Simon and Saurab started rehearsing with different musicians, eventually finding the right fit with Saju and Erik. The band played their first show on September 12th at Rula Live for an event called Daami Fest. The band is currently playing covers of their favorite music, while writing originals in the background.
ZACK CALIXTUS
A Hong Kong-born Nepalese, Sadib Paudel A.K.A Zack Calixtus grew up being always passionate about music since young. His first taste for Rock n’ Roll made him explore his talents and gave a vibe of catchiness music to the audience.
