A fatal car accident occurred early this morning (5/12) at the roundabout near the University of Science and Technology, Sai Kung, killing the 25-year-old male driver.
The car involved in the accident was driving along Clear Water Bay Road towards Sai Kung just after 4:00 am. When it reached the roundabout near HKUST, the driver lost control and crashed into roundabout, hit the barriers, then a tree and ended up in the middle upside down. The front of the private car flew off, and debris was scattered widely.
The driver suffered serious head injuries and was trapped in the vehicle. He was rescued by Fire Services but was unconscious. He was sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital where he was certified dead on arrival.
Chinese language media have identified the victim as a resident of Nam Wai Village, Sai Kung.
