Metro Town Fusion supermarket closes for two weeks after cashier confirmed with coronavirus

Fusion supermarket in Metro Town, Tiu Keng Leng was closed yesterday for 14 days owing to an employee being diagnosed with the novel coronavirus.

The victim, a part-time cashier, was diagnosed with the virus on 27 February. She is the daughter-in-law of one of those diagnosed with the virus who were regulars at the Buddhist temple in North Point.

A notice of closure has been posted outside the supermarket. Fusion said that in order to ensure the safety of employees and customers, the Metro Town branch will be closed for 14 days from 1 – 14 March. All fresh food was discarded immediately, and all employees were immediately quarantined at home.

Responding to media enquiries, Fusion said that after the store closed on 27 February, it was thoroughly cleaned and disinfected –  all equipment, work facilities and floors, baskets and shopping carts. Additionally, a professional cleaning contractor was hired to thoroughly clean the air-conditioning and ventilation systems.
