Cena after the rampage Photo and video: BUZZ reader
UPDATED 31 January with photo and video:
On Wednesday afternoon (26/1) a man went berserk outside Cena in Man Yee Square in the centre of Sai Kung. Witnesses say that he trashed the furniture outside the restaurant, broke lamps and threw glasses around. Staff and customers fought with him.
It took a long time for emergency services to arrive, even though the police station was just around the corner. First on the scene were ambulance men in their orange jackets, then the police
Before they arrived, one on-looker tackled the man, talking to him before the police arrived, having got control of him on the ground astride him and holding his arms. The police took over and handcuffed the man and took him away.
The brave onlooker has been named as Dean West, who is “not big but very tough” according to one witness. “he deserves credit for his bravery in tackling a clearly dangerous man – a true Sai Kung hero”, BUZZ was told.
BUZZ has found out that the berserker was a part-time employee at Cena and also a regular drinker at some of the other bars in the square. He is well known as being “a bit crazy”, according to one source. Another source tells BUZZ that he thought the man was either very drunk or on drugs.
Police are now asking for witnesses and any video or photos of the incident. BUZZ reader Jacob Lucas has offered to help do this, so if you could send anything to his WhatsApp at 53416110 he will be forwarding them to the police to help in the investigation.
