A volunteer rescues one of the abandoned rabbits
Ho Chung animal-lovers are hopping mad over the mysterious arrival of rabbits on land near the village. Wild rabbits are not known in Hong Kong so they are assumed to have been dumped, probably by a pet owner spooked by the government’s war on small furry animals suspected of harbouring Covid.
Carol Biddell, a local animal welfare activist, told BUZZ that over the past few days three rabbits have been found on the green area behind Ho Chung village. They have been rescued by volunteers.
Volunteers will continue to monitor the area to see if there are any more. Carol says that if you have a small furry pet that you can no longer care for, do not just abandon it. Contact her on 6531 8215 and it will be picked up, no questions asked.
